Get to Know Traci Davis – HOPE’s Food Pantry Coordinator

img_0538THE FACTS:

Traci and her family have attended HOPE since 2005. She is one of our many gifted Tomorrow’s HOPE Preschool teachers, Traci’s most at home down in the children’s wing shepherding the little ones through various stages of toddlerhood. When she’s not loving up her charges, you’ll find her hard at work coordinating the HOPE Cares Food Pantry. Her extraordinary ability to organize the chaos of paperwork, red tape and ever-changing guidelines is only matched by her capacity to tend and care for all the pantry guests with dignity and respect. Traci and husband, Bill have three grown children.

One thing I love about my role on staff …

Is my co-workers, these amazing people have become family to me. They have diverse experiences in life and are always willing to spend time helping with advice or support. I feel blessed that I can be a flawed human and be forgiven for it too.

A time I saw God at work in my life …

Was delivering one of my children. I experienced hemorrhaging during labor, the situation became serious very quickly. While all the doctors and nurses busily moved in the operating room, I was very aware of God’s calming presence with me. Since that day, I have never forgotten that God is always with me.

A book that rocked my world (in addition to the Bible) …

First, my favorite chapter in the Bible is Hebrews chapter 11. This chapter is a reminder of God’s strength through humans. In addition the book that rocked my world is What Happens When Women Walk In Faith by Lysa TerKeurst. One of the quotes I keep as a reminder is, ” And as He always does, God met me there at the point of my need. He assured me that He doesn’t call the qualified, but He qualifies those He calls.”  I enjoy second guessing myself and these references serve as a reminder, I do not have to lean on my own strength. Thank God for that blessing.

One reason I think people should check out HOPE Church …

For the enjoyment of bringing my morning tea to service! Seriously, the pastors at HOPE are intelligent, well-spoken, and down to earth people that take the Bible and make it easy apply the text to everyday life. HOPE is a second home for my family, we have authentic people who walk through life with us. This gift is not easily found.

A hobby that I’d love to get into but probably never will.

Quilting, I always enjoyed watching movies where women get together to make quilts and of course chat! Although, I know I cannot sit still long enough to learn this hobby!
