Vickie has been on staff since 2008. Her background is in nursing and she is a long standing member of HOPE and also a life long resident of Voorhees. Both of those things help her in her dual role as Director of First Impressions (aka, receptionist) and Coordinator of Connections. She answers phones, mans the door in the church office and oversees the info table in the lobby. It is Vickie’s job in either of her roles to answer questions and connect people into where they need to be. She and her husband Scott have been married since 1984 and currently live in Voorhees. They have two daughters.

THE ANSWERS:

One thing I love about my role on staff …

My favorite thing about working here is when someone either calls cold or walks in the front door and wants to know about the church, or one of our ministries. I love to talk to people about HOPE and ways they can get connected here. It is exciting to me to get people plugged into just the right place for them. I also love my fellow staff members. I can always count on them to have my back. In raising our children, there have been a few times when emergencies have prevented me from, or caused me to have to leave here early. My friends can always be counted on to help me out.

A time I saw God at work in my life …

I was a young mom and life was not going at all the way that I had envisioned it. I was at my MOPS group one day and this young pastor came to speak about being a father. That was Jeff. My husband and I began attending the church the following week. We never left. I was supposed to be on vacation that day, but I wasn’t. I now see God allowed that disappointment to give me a chance to totally change my life. We never left HOPE, both of our girls were raised here and now I see God’s hand in most things. And where I do not see Him, I trust that He is there anyway.

A book that rocked my world (in addition to the Bible) …

“Captivating” by Stasi and John Eldrege. This is a book that shows me who I am in relation to God. Shows me how lavishly He loves me. Shows me that as a woman that I am the “crowning Glory of creation”. Shows me that I am indeed a “warrior Princess” in this battle called life. I am indeed the beloved daughter of the King. I have read, studied and taught this book many times over.

One reason I think people should check out HOPE Church …

HOPE IS a place where you can meet God. I know I did. As well as numerous other people who have helped me through a myriad of life events, adoption, raising children, being married, death of my parents. I do not know how people navigate through the course of life without the support of a church community. I am so grateful for mine.

A hobby that I’d love to get into but probably never will …

Ballroom dancing. I just love watching people who know how to dance move across the floor. But my husband and I are not really dancers, so I am not sure that will ever happen!
