Battling the Flu by Jeff Bills

I have been hearing that the flu has been running through the area and I know that a lot of our members and friends have been feeling the affects. This past week it caught up to me though not directly.

Monday evening Dave Falcone came to the Leadership Team meeting to make his report. What was unusual about this is he showed up to the meeting in a winter coat, wool hat and gloves. Dave has the flu. On Wednesday Sue Shaw called to say she was down with the flu. Marilyn Bills went home Wednesday afternoon not feeling good and by evening it was clear that she had the flu. Nancy Seigle notified us on Wednesday afternoon that she had…you guessed it…THE FLU!

Last week I wrote about how connected the people on the HOPE staff are to each other and how we “share life” together. We have now taken it to a whole new level it would seem as germs are now part of that spirit of unity.

I am grateful for the dedication of our staff members who still got the essential work done from their sick beds. I am also grateful for our wonderfully dedicated volunteers who chipped in to help get some office work done as well. You guys are amazing – thank you!

So if things seem a bit less tightly knit together (including this bulletin message) I know that you will understand that it is all because the members our staff are so close.
