To Tell the Truth
Proverbs 12:23 makes it clear that God is not okay with lies. In my message yesterday I shared two specific reasons why this would be. First, it is contrary to God’s nature which is Truth – Jesus said, “I am the way, the TRUTH and the life”.
In addition, God knows the damage that lies do to His children. Share your thoughts on this in the comment section below.
I said that we have a love/hate relationship with the truth because we all lie. We lie in different ways, at different times and for different reason’s. Think about the circumstances in which you are the most likely to lie. What is it about those situations that cause you to want to take control, hide or manipulate others? Take a few moments to offer that up to God as a confession.
Proverbs 3:3 counsels us to hold together truth AND kindness. To have these to adorn the outside of your life (necklace) and the inside (heart). In the comments below share some thoughts why you think truth and kindness need to go hand-in-hand. Then say something about how you try to practice keeping these two things together in the way you relate to people in your life.Filed Under: Online Studies, Proverbs, Small Groups
