LIFE- It’s more than a game – July 19
Knowing that we should be doing good, or a Force for Good, is one thing, but knowing what the next step is may be difficult. As we talked about on Sunday during the message, sometimes we may not know where to begin, or we may feel overwhelmed by the amount of good needed or even worse we may shut down thinking that there is nothing anyone can do. Though these feelings may be real, Jesus is making the world right and He invites us to be apart of that process, of heaven coming to Earth.
Micah 6:8 sums this up so well – “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
So my challenge and prayer for us today is to take some time to reflect on the experiences in our lives where God has used us for good. Maybe it was a kind conversation of support with a friend, serving in a ministry at church or maybe it was sharing a meal with someone in need? Give thanks that Jesus was able to work good through you to that person or situation. Then, let’s take some time to ask the Holy Spirit to open our eyes to the people we work with or go to school with, our family members or even people at church … that we would be able to demonstrate the goodness of God in some way to them this week. Knowing that when we are moving and listening to Jesus by helping to do good, we are bringing the kingdom come, from Heaven to Earth.
Founder of the Salvation Army, William Booth, famously said,
“I am not waiting on a move of God … I am a move of God!”
May we be a movement of God! Amen. — Steve Hoadley
