LIFE- It’s more than a game – July 25

Welcome to week four!

Because these are loosely based on our sermon series, if you weren’t here on Sunday now is a great time to catch up on the podcast.

I am currently participating in a small group reading The Emotionally Healthy Woman by Gerri Scazzaro.   It is no coincidence (I am sure) that this past week we were asked to list things that bring us life; activities we do that enrich our spirits, draw us closer to God and allow us to move forward.  In the study, Gerri challenged us to pick one thing and make a plan to begin implementing it (or as Jeff put it – say yes to tomorrow tonight).  While there were a great number of things on my list (spending time with friends, being in nature, reading, etc) the one I chose to focus on was writing.  This online study has helped me find some consistency in this endeavor!  I find when I write about something God is teaching me or wrestle with a topic through written words, God uses that time to work it out inside of me.

Does that make sense?

woman writingFor me writing, and the discussions that follow, is food for my soul.  A chance to digest what God has brought me and wrestle with how He wants me to live it out.

So this study has become a discipline.  Sitting on Sunday afternoons and digesting the morning service. Discovering the message God has for my heart in what was presented as well as the other things He has told us throughout scripture.   I am committing today to continue to write; to take time and process fully what God wants me to wrestle with each  day. – Heather Mandala

Discussion Questions:

  1. 1. What jumped out at you from this sermon?  Was there something you looked at in a new way?
  2. 2. Take a moment and think about what things bring you life, bring you closer to God? Take a minute- make a list, brainstorm there is no wrong answer here!
  3. 3. Can you pick one? One you can make a discipline?  Something you can say “yes” to today for tomorrow?
