LIFE- It’s more than a game – July 28

As I continue to reflect on last week’s message on the “D-word,” I am sure that we can all relate to the difficulty of discipline.  Being a musician, there are countless hours spent in rehearsal before you even take the stage.  Honestly, that wasn’t easy for me and I owe my mother a lot of credit for keeping me going.  Looking back, I am so thankful that I didn’t give up.

As difficult and continual as discipline is, for we are never finished growing, I really think it’s important to celebrate the wins of a disciplined life.  Today, as Pastor Jeff suggested on Sunday … let’s celebrate how God has been able to grow and use us through the tools of discipline He gives.  Even if we may think they are small, take some time to think back on how the work of our past has prepared us for the opportunities in our present.  I have seen in my life and many others, that God uses our moments of preparation for opportunities in the future we can’t even imagine.  May we be able to celebrate, recognize and be ready for all that God has called us to do for His glory and the good of others. – Steve Hoadley

Questions to think about:

What is an area that you have been able to bless others with because of discipline?
(remember, disciplines are tools that God uses to unlock His gifting and direction in our lives, you won’t be bragging, ha!)

Think of a spiritual discipline you have practiced (prayer, Scripture reading, silence, giving, etc).  What difference has that made in your life?
Additional Scriptures to Consider About Celebrating Discipline:

1 Corinthians 9:24-27

Philippians 1:4-6
