LIFE – It’s more than a game July 5

The book of Proverbs contains practical instructions for successful living. It is the MOST practical book in the Bible. It teaches there is special wisdom revealed by God as well as innate wisdom, or common sense, and both must play a part in daily life.

How would you define wisdom?

One element of wisdom is understanding that actions have consequences. Why does that sometimes seem so hard for people to live by?

The book of Proverbs begins with the famous summary statement, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom” (1:7). The Message version translates it this way – “Start with God—the first step in learning is bowing down to God.” What is meant by that?

Dustin Neely, a pastor, once said …

Our souls are like gardens. The “fear of the Lord” must be constantly cultivated in that garden. It is best cultivated within community.
