LIFE – It’s more than a game July 7

As we continue to think about wisdom, we should consider this: Wisdom may require us to slow down. I know, who has the time, right?

But, wisdom isn’t an award to win and be done with. It is something we seek to integrate into our being over the course of our lives. So often, we may rush into a decision or share words with our families or co-workers without taking a beat to consider, “What would wisdom from God require of me in this moment?” We may make a choice based on “What makes me feel better in this moment?” instead of “How can I understand what will be the best response for the sake of others — even it makes me uncomfortable?”

When we move too quickly to settle our own needs and anxieties, we miss out on the beauty and calm the wisdom of God brings into our lives. Proverbs 1:33(ESV) reminds us, “but whoever listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.” The Message version says, “First pay attention to me, and then relax. Now you can take it easy — you’re in good hands.” When we go to God for wisdom, we are able to find a new outlook, and along with it, peace. — Ashley Evans
