Men’s Annual Retreat – This is YOUR year to go!

I really enjoy the men’s retreat because it’s a great for me to meet other men who attend HOPE in a relaxed informal setting. I like that there are guys who have been attending HOPE for decades sitting alongside guys who have been at HOPE for less than a year.
For me, the men’s retreat is a good place to recalibrate. It’s too easy to slip into a routine that’s counterproductive to life’s most important responsibilities. Every man needs to find a time and place to get away and make sure the focus remains on those things that are most important.
Just a few thoughts from guys who have attended past retreats. This year, the annual Men of HOPE Retreat will be held from Friday, October 11 through Sunday, October 13 at St. Mary’s in Cape May. Led by Pastors Jeff Bills and Rick Court, the retreat will center on the theme “Everyday Manhood: Head, Hands & Heart,” and ask the question, “How can we become the men we so deeply need to be?” based on Luke 2:52 as the theme Scripture:
Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people.
Right on the beach with ocean views from the porches and private rooms, St. Mary’s is located next to the Cape May Lighthouse and offers a perfect setting for the men’s retreat. For more information about St. Mary’s, visit their website at StMaryByTheSea.org.
Challenging and provocative discussions led by both pastors make up the three sessions held on Saturday, with lots of opportunity for small group interaction throughout the day. This year, a local restaurant has been reserved for Saturday’s dinner. There will also be free time in the weekend’s schedule to explore Cape May and the surrounding area, or to play cards, Frisbee or just relax on the porch. In past years, some men have also tried their hand at surf fishing and metal detecting on the beach. Cost is $100 and covers room, board and all meals. (Linens, pillows and towels are not provided.) Go to MeetHope.org/MensRetreat to register and pay or pick up a brochure in the lobby today. (There are limited financial scholarships available.) Questions? Email Pastor Rick Court at Rick@MeetHope.org.
