Sunday School for Kids with Special Needs
Parents and families of children with special needs can face a slew of challenges on any given day. Thanks to a volunteer-based program at HOPE Church, Sunday mornings offer those parents a bit of respite as they worship. “We have a wonderful group of specially-trained volunteers who act as a ‘buddy’ to each child with special needs,” explains Chris Graves, Coordinator of HOPE’s Children and Family Ministries. “Our Sunday school classes are completely inclusive and we have a system in place where we can text a parent’s cell phone if they are needed.” Buddies help their charges enjoy the experiences along with their typically-developing peers while being sensitive to each child’s varied and specific needs. Buddies are available at both the 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. worship services for children ages 3 and up. Questions may be directed to Chris Graves via e-mail at Chris@MeetHope.org.
The Family Ministry at HOPE Church offers other family-centered activities throughout the year including monthly Family Fun Nights. “Our next Family Fun Night will be on Friday, March 4 at 6:30 p.m.,” Graves said. “It will have a Mexican theme and we will put together a fun scavenger hunt. We ask each family to bring their favorite Mexican dish to share.” Family Nights are open to the public but pre-registration is required by e-mailing Chris Graves at Chris@MeetHope.org
HOPE Church is located at 700 Cooper Road in Voorhees and offers a relaxed, contemporary Christian worship experience each Sunday morning at 9:30 and 10:30am. Sojourn, an alternative worship experience, is held each week at 10:30am in the church’s activity space. All are welcome no matter where they are in their spiritual journey. Be sure to visit the website at MeetHope.org.
