Confirmation Class Information
September 26th marks the beginning of Hope’s annual Confirmation class!
WHEN: Wednesday evenings, September 26th – December 19th, from 7-8:00 p.m. The detailed schedule can be found here.
WHO: 7th and 8th grade students who have not been confirmed
WHAT: The class is designed to give basic information about the history and teachings of the Christian faith so that they will be better equipped for a lifetime of discipleship. We will also learn about the history and philosophy of Hope Church so that they will be better equipped for membership in the church. The culmination of the class is Confirmation Sunday (January 6th), when the youth will make a public statement confirming their commitment to Christ and the church.
The assumption for Confirmation parents is that they desire their son/daughter to learn about the Christian faith in a systematic way and become active members of HOPE Church. If you are not currently a member or active attendee, I would ask that you discuss this with Pastor Jeff or me prior to the start of Confirmation classes.
Hope’s Confirmation curriculum includes a retreat weekend. The retreat is scheduled for October 26-28, 2008 (details found here). This retreat weekend is a required element of the confirmation curriculum, and will allow the class to discuss and consider some of the deeper issues and commitments involved in confirmation and church membership. The cost for the retreat will be less than $75 per person. (Confidential financial scholarships are available.)
