The Great Divorce, by C.S. Lewis
Review by Jeff Bills, HOPE's Lead Pastor
"This book makes the top 10 of my all-time favorite books. I rarely read a book more than once, but this one I've read and referred to many times over the years.
This is NOT a book about marital break-up (divorce) instead it is an allegory about reasons why people reject God's free gift of grace and salvation. The story follows a group of tourists who leave hell to visit heaven and why most make the choice to return to hell.
I know it sounds crazy, but Lewis demonstrates human ignorance and avarice in ways that are both real and familiar. The way Lewis descibes both heaven and hell alone make this book worth reading!"
