Jesus the person

One day as I was heading to my daugher's house from my Wednesday women's bible study at Hope, I noticed an older women walking on the edge of the road. From the yellow bag she was carrying I figured that she probably had just came from Shoprite, along with the bag she had a large bundle of paper towels which she had under her arm. The Holy Spirit encouraged me to offer her a ride.

My first thought was ... You are asking a stranger to get in your car?

Before I could answer myself, I said out loud "She probably likes to walk". There I had found a good excuse but, suddenly I realized that I was allowing fear to control me and not trust in God. I went to the next street and made a U turn, pulling up to the women I said " I noticed that you are carrying many things, Can I help you by driving you to where you are going? She smiled and responded "Aw thank you so much but, I really like to walk".

As I continued to my destination I chuckled as I thought about her response.  That faith overrules fear. What I tried to use as an excuse, God used as a reminder; that  He is always with me.

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  I love the definition of courage that was shared at last Sunday's service. Courage isn't the absence of fear but, the ability to push through it.  It's such a blessing  to know that in the times when I do not push through my fear,  God always provides another opportunity were we can push through together.
