AE: After Easter
When I think of Pentecost it reminds me of a former church I attended and how we would celebrate Pentecost with a birthday party. Including balloons, cake and a large "Happy Birthday" banner. It was always a fun and inspirational way to remember the birth of the church and the coming of the Holy Spirit. As Pastor Rick Court read the first few verses of Acts 2 I thought violent wind and tongues of fire .... wow pretty dramatic! You got my attention, along with the God fearing Jews who were bewildered and amazed having heard their own native language. Growing up when I heard the word "church" I immediately thought of a brick building with a steeple and stained glass windows. Instead I now visualize "church"as a group of believers worshiping, serving and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Some may not know the gospels,
that God's love set us free.
Today may we share the good news,
a gift they too may receive.
As a former steamroller ..... I thank the Holy Spirit for His gentle guiding as I am joyfully lead to share how Christ has dramatically changed my life, so that others too many come to know God who loves them more than they could ever dream possible.
